Jillian Michaels 6 Week Six-Pack & Yoga Meltdown

6 week six-pack is intense, effective, and worthwhile

I enjoyed 6 Week Six-pack, and here again, Jillian Michaels is winning my loyalty as a customer. I’ve already gone through a few of her other DVDs, namely 30 Day Shred and No More Trouble Zones. However, there is one drawback that I’m beginning to recognize in her DVDs – nutritional education. In this review let me lightly touch on where I am at this point in my Michaels evolution.

Where I was before 6 Week Six-pack

For me getting down to a body fat percentage low enough to bring out my abs in six weeks was impossible. If it were healthy to lose twenty five pounds a week, then sure, but that isn’t the case. From what I’ve been told it’s not a good idea to lose more than at most 1-2 pounds per week. After the loss of someone close, over the course of a decade, I became morbidly obese. Anyway, after doing some research and getting into Biggest Loser, I decided to join the Michaels minions and get in-shape.

This is what I understand so far from my own research on how to lose weight. Obtaining low body fat happens through a sustained energy deficit, period. This could be done without exercise. In fact, exercising burns only a fraction of the calories that a healthy diet does. Although I was shocked to see how much food it takes to lose weight; it’s a lot! Jillian doesn’t give me or her DvD fan club enough nutritional information.

I don’t follow directions. I alternate both workouts every day, 5 days a week and my diet is much healthier than it used to be. On top of that I added things here and there, especially adding more time to the warm up and cool down period because I actually love stretching.

Why I Recommend 6 Week Six-pack

  • There are great workouts in this video that are slightly different than her others. They get you moving, sweating, and feeling the tension in the abdomen, which everyone loves.
  • Her narration and commentary are the typical infectious, driving, and inspiring Jillian. She’s tough, but she’s also down to earth and you can see that it isn’t all about the money or fame for her. She had humble beginnings.
  • Core wise, yes, this does prolong the tension on the slow twitch abdominus muscles. Furthermore, for me, I like the fact she incorporates more than one plane of motion and promotes body control.

Conclusion

Throughout the journey back to myself, I’ve joined the school of thought which has proved abs are made in the kitchen. They do not come from what I do in my living room or the gym, although these things do help to accentuate my caloric deficit. However, once through my eating lifestyle I get to about twelve or thirteen percent, it will be because of videos like these that I will look well sculpted. Finally, my advice is to juxtapose the two workouts and drink tons of water!

Yoga Meltdown Really Helped A Yoga Noob

I was that typical girl who went to the gym to hop on the elliptical for forty minutes, get a sweat going, and then take off. It was more for mental reasons, because the results just didn’t happen. My best friend is the opposite, and after about a year of nagging, she finally got me to agree to attend some yoga classes with her. I got this video to prepare myself so that I didn’t draw too much attention to myself in class by being a complete buffoon. I didn’t know what to expect. Here is how it worked out.

Yoga Mixed With Training

There is a big visible class room in front of the cardio machines at our gym so that all the people like me can see what they should be doing. I’ve learned a thing or two watching them. This video is more than yoga. Jillian incorporates reps into the poses, which from what I hear isn’t a popular notion just yet; still less than trendy. This made it feel more like something I was familiar with instead of something completely foreign. Furthermore, the way she had me doing them wasn’t harmful to my joints.

Yoga Interval Training

Like my elliptical she had my heart rate going up and down over time, which is great when it comes to burning calories and sustaining the challenge so that my mind doesn’t get bored. Furthermore, this allowed me to get used to the movements which were new and exciting to my muscles. I could actually feel my body and central nervous system enjoying everything.

Once I Got To Yoga Class

In many ways Jillian promotes a gym-yoga style rather than the hardcore, and strictly yoga routines that my friend likes. Once in class I was more prepared and had a better idea of how to execute the poses and recognize their names. Jillian doesn’t go off the wall or into left field, but transforms well-known power yoga poses into quasi gym style workouts. I loved it. In fact, I liked her style much better than what I found in class.

My Conclusion

While I won’t say this video is for beginners, it wouldn’t seem like a heavy workout to most fitness freaks. Because my body is so used to heavy cardio five days a week, it doesn’t really tax me too much, but the muscles cry out in agony all the way through which is awesome and a great change of pace for gals like me. The workouts are effective, but they can be mastered quickly.

My friend was right though, because I’m already seeing results. My body is responding to the change. So, I’m now officially going to get three more Jillian Michaels workout DVD’s and will tackle them with enthusiasm. She’s definitely a great trainer, and I eagerly look forward to the next challenges she has to put in front of me.
